When you turn out the lights,after 50 years of being on.

Standing in the studio and gallery today, I felt it all at once. For the first time in 30-something years, the gallery is empty. The studio is quiet. No Gary, no Donna, no Richard, no Rachel, no Mikey.

The light hit everything just right today — so many moments gone, and the people who filled them.

Light streaming through the studio doorway — Light through the doorway.

Shelves of white pottery waiting in the dark — Still waiting, in the dark.

The gallery, empty for the first time in 30 years — The gallery, empty for the first time in thirty years.

Life is beautiful, strange, and sad.

Crystalline glaze pottery up close — Fifty years of glaze, up close.

But I’m filled with hope, and there’s still so much love and happiness to share.

We ain’t done yet.
